Ghanaians eulogize Daddy Lumba on his 55th birthday

He is a legend and his music cuts across all divides, the old,the rich ,poor ,destitute can relate to at least some of his blockbuster tunes.

Charles Kwadwo Fosu affectionately called Daddy Lumba has been entertaining music loving Ghanaians for well over some three decades.

It has not always been smooth riding for the ‘Aben wo ha’ hitmaker, there have been challenges,controversies, splits and pain in his storied musical career.

The legend turns a year older today meaning the fresh looking Daddy Lumba is 55 years today wooow!!!

His creativity,choice of words and blend is beyond measure with a craft in coining popular sayings and casting insinuations through his songs.

Up till date I believe there are certain words in the legend’s songs you still struggling to hear what he means but in a who does not like a Lumba song?

He transcends beyond generations and has never outlived his relevance, he  appeals to the young , millennials and the old.

Daddy Lumba, in all, has released 33 albums. The albums include  acclaimed ones like Aben Wɔha, Awosuɔ, Obi Ate Me So Buɔ, Sika Asɛm,Yentie obia, Ebi Se Ɛyɛ Aduro.

He is currently gearing up for his 34th album, titled ‘Nnipa Fon Na Ɛka Nsɛm Fon’ and has helped nurture and launched the careers of at least 13 great musicians including Ofori Amponsah.

Daddy Lumba is a multiple award-winning Ghanaian musician with a career spanning three decades.

Lumba was born Charles Kwadwo Fosu on the 29th of September 1964 in a village called Nsuta Amangoase in the Sekyere Central District, near Mampong in Ashanti Region.

His father, Owoahene Kwadwo Fosu, a teacher, died when Daddy Lumba was only a child. His mother, Comfort Gyamfi, popularly known as Ama Saah, was also a teacher.

She died in 2001 in Kumasi. Her death was a devastating blow to Lumba as she was literally everything to him.

Many of Daddy Lumba’s songs, including ‘Anidasoɔ Wɔhɔ Ma Obiara’, ‘Ohia Asɛm’, Ɛmmere Pa Bɛba’, ‘Agya Bi Wua Agya Bi Tease’ were dedicated to her.

He is married with ten children.
