48 percent of state lands lost – Thomas Kusi Boafo

The Chief Executive Officer of Public Sector Reforms, Thomas Kusi Boafo has said the state has lost over 48% of lands through the negligence of some state agencies.

According to him, sale of state lands and properties have always been shrouded in controversy under every other regime in the Fourth Republic.

There was the widespread accusation of the governments selling lands with reckless abandon.

“If I tell you the number of government lands that were sold to politicians and private individuals who have encroached state lands you will weep for this country,” Thomas Kusi Boafo told Kwame Tutu on Anopa Nkomo on Accra based Kingdom FM 107.7.

He also talked about the government’s plans to automate the entire land administration system to reduce the incidence of corruption in the process.

He gave the assurance that government would continue to retool and provide them with the necessary support to ensure the public will be prevented from encroaching state lands.

Mr. Thomas Kusi Boafo pledged that they would live up to the expectations and the confidence reposed in them to ensure the management of lands in the country to enhance economic growth and development.
