13 persons in court for attacking Police officers in Ligba

Police in the Northern region have rounded up about 13 people from a Community called Ligba near Savelugu.

The police officers were assigned to the community on Wednesday, August 28 to invite a suspect, Iddrisu Ziblim who is wanted in a case of causing harm

Members from the police service were attacked when they attempted to arrest the suspect from the town.

According to the Police they were pelted with stones and their cars vandalized leading to the police to call for reinforcements.

The reinforcements helped overpower the irate crowd in the community after which 13 persons were arrested including one lady.

Upon a search in the room of the female suspect, led to the Police finding a one-barrel gun in the room of her room.

All 13 suspects have been arraigned before the Tamale District court presided over by Mr Issifu Amadu for prosecution with three persons granted bail including the woman.

Ten of the suspects have been remanded into prison custody to reappear on September 2, 2019.
